What kind of Sport is Beach Hockey?

Beach Hockey is a battle in loose sand between 2 teams with 5 players each in an inflatable field, with a
size of 20 x 30 meter.

Beach Hockey will be played with a small leather ball (Ø 20cm) instead of the original hockey ball.
This year beach hockey can still be played with the original field hockey stick. From next year on Beach
Hockey should be played with the new Beach Hockey stick. This new stick is produced with a bigger/
larger head of the stick. Within this head there are three holes. These holes make it possible to hit the
ball easier through the sand.

What makes it so spectacular?

Most of the time the ball is played through the air. There is a lot of action and there are many scoring
opportunities. Beach Hockey is a short and intensive game.

Rules

- A team exists of 4 field players and a goalkeeper(totally 5)

- There can be scored of all distances en positions.

- Shoot is allowed, but not in an active way. Only to the Goal.

- The goalkeeper may stop the ball with both hand ,feet and Body

- The ball can be played above the shoulders (only when it’s save).

- The ball may not be played longer than 3 seconds in the air by one player.

- Fairplay and safety are most important.

- To wear shoes and your normal hockey outfit is recommendable. Preferible Beach Shoes.

- A match takes 2 times 8 minutes.
